Horticulture Programs and Events

Programs

growG.R.O.W. (Gardening Restores Our Way-of-life) offers year-round vegetable, herb and flower gardening experiences to individuals with disabilities. This program is operated in partnership with Norfolk’s Therapeutic Recreation Center.

Tanner’s Creek Garden Center allows individuals with disabilities to learn basic horticulture skills in a supportive environment in their own greenhouse facility on Zoo grounds. This program is operated in partnership with Eggleston Service.

The event showcases resources and opportunities available to the disAbled community. Norfolk Public Safety Expo, health Screening, activities and entertainment are also part of this positive event. Hosted by Norfolk's Therapeutic Recreation Center, click here for more information.

Horticulture Open House (Fall 2010)
The Zoo’s gardens are the star on this day which features educational activities, food and entertainment.

Norfolk Arbor Day -- (October 2010)
Urban trees are distributed as part of the greening of Norfolk.
