Horticulture Internship

Horticulture Intern Summer 2012

Program Objective: The internship program offers valuable experience and horticultural training in the maintenance of a public horticulture facility.  The internship program is open to college students currently enrolled in an accredited horticulture program.

Description: Interns work closely with the Horticulture Staff in all facets of Zoo Horticulture including fine gardening, design and maintenance of animal exhibits, landscape design, grounds maintenance and equipment maintenance.

Program Goal: Interns will acquire the knowledge, experience and skills necessary to maintain a horticulture collection in a zoological setting. 

Length of Internship: 8 week program (May – July) – (temporary short term position).

Number of Hours: 24 hours per week (schedule to be determined and not to exceed 200 total hours).

Qualifications: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university horticulture program.
