Q: What happens if it rains the day of my party?
A: Our parties are indoors, so they are held rain or shine.

Q: What is included in the goody bags?
A: The goody bags contain 5 to 6 theme related (age appropriate) zoo toys.

Q: How do I go about booking a birthday party?
A: Parties are scheduled on a first-come, first served basis and require payment in full before the party will be booked. Birthday parties can be booked up to six months in advance. Birthday parties can be booked in person at the Zoo during the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. They may also be done online, or by mail or fax. We can not accept registrations over the phone. If you are looking for a date that is within two months, please call (757/441-2374, ext. 229) or email the Education Department to ensure availability before registering online.

Q: If we have extra children or adults, can we pay extra?
A: If you think you will have more than 15 children or more than 4 adults, you will need to contact our Events Department at (757) 441-2374 ext. 229.

Q: Is the birthday child and his/her family included in the counts?
A: Yes, the birthday child and his/her family should be included in the counts.

Q: If parents bring small siblings, do they count towards the child count?
A: Children age 1 and up are counted towards the child count.

Q: Can I bring a pinata?
A: We do not allow pinatas which must be broken with a stick.

Q: Are invitations included with the party?
A: Invitations are not included as part of the birthday party package. We do offer a tableware/invitation set that can be added to the birthday package for an additional fee.

Q: Can I bring balloons into the Zoo for my child's birthday party?
A: No, Virginia Zoo policy prohibits balloons, straws and alcohol on the premises because these items may be harmful to the animals.
