Internship Program
Program
Objective: The internship program offers valuable experience
and horticultural training in a public horticultural facility.
The internship program is open to high school and college students
interested in pursuing a career in horticulture.
Description: The Interns will work closely
with the Horticulture Staff maintaining the 9 theme gardens,
caring for plants in and around animal exhibits, performing
grounds maintenance tasks, maintaining equipment and assisting
with educational programming. Interns will be responsible for
planting, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, dead-heading, watering,
and other related gardening activities.
Program Goal: Interns will
acquire the necessary knowledge, experience and skills necessary
to maintain a horticulture collection in a zoological setting.
Qualifications: Applicants must be enrolled
in a high school vocational horticulture program or enrolled
in a college or university horticulture program.
