Hours and Location
The Virginia Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except on major winter holidays). The Virginia Zoo is located at 3500 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23504.
Admission
Train Tokens are
$2 for riders age 2 and up, and can be purchased at the entrance ticket booths or at the train station located near the entrance plaza. Both locations can accept credit cards.
VISA, MasterCard and cash are accepted throughout the Zoo. Discover, American Express and personal checks can only be processed at the Membership Office, Gift Shop, Restaurant and Train.
All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Zoo Train Winter Schedule
African Village Restaurant - Winter Schedule
The African Village Restaurant is open Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. The restaurant is located in the Zoo's Africa section.
Beastro Snack Bar - Winter Schedule
During the month of November, the Beastro Snack Bar is closed Monday - Friday (unless high temperature is 60 or above) and open weekends from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. (unless high temperatures are below 55). The Beastro Snack Bar will be closed from December to February. The restaurant is located in the Zoo's barnyard.
Dipin Dots - Winter Schedule
During the month of November, the Dippin Dots Snack Bar is closed Monday - Friday (unless high temperature is 60 or above) and open weekends from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. (unless high temperatures are below 55). The Dippin Dots Snack Bar will be closed from December to February. The restaurant is located in the Zoo's Africa Section.
Wheelchair, Wagon and Stroller Rentals
Wheelchairs, wagons and strollers are available for guest rental. The fee is $10 and guests receive a refund of $5 when they return the equipment with rental receipt. The rental booth is located across from the Gift Shop.
Picnics
Please note that outside food or drinks are not allowed inside the Zoo.
If you want to have a picnic lunch, consider visiting Lafayette Park, just outside the Virginia Zoo. Located at the intersection of Granby and 35th Streets, the park features picnic shelters and a new playground. For information about this park or the City of Norfolk's Department of Parks and Recreation, visit www.norfolk.gov/rpos.
If you leave the Zoo for your picnic, you may re-enter on the same day by showing you admission receipt at the ticket booth.
