COME SEE WHAT'S ‘GROWING' ON

Horticulture Open House at the Virginia Zoo

 

NORFOLK , Va. – The Virginia Zoo will host a Horticulture Open House on Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m .

 

Guests will enjoy educational displays, walking tours, a plant sale, face painting, maze, scavenger hunt and more! All programs and activities are included in the regular Zoo admission price.

 

The Virginia Zoo's Horticulture Department strives to cultivate gardens and natural habitats while providing diverse educational opportunities and cultural experiences to the community.  With more than 400 plant varieties in nine themed gardens, the Zoo offers a bountiful botanical experience for visitors.

 

Over 100 exotic container plantings and hanging baskets add another dimension to the garden visit.   Plantings in animal exhibits are representative of their natural habitats.  Come see the animals in our gardens!

 

As an accredited Association of Zoos and Aquariums ( AZA ) facility, the Virginia Zoo exhibits over 350 animals, beautifully manicured grounds and offers a fun-filled day for all. For more than a century, the Virginia Zoo has demonstrated a commitment to wildlife, conservation and education. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and located at 3500 Granby Street in Norfolk .
