LIVE FROM THE LION'S DEN Cub Viewing On The Zoo's ‘Cub Cam '
NORFOLK , Va. – A ‘Cub Cam' has been installed to allow the public LIVE viewing into the behind-the-scenes lion's den where the cubs are being raised by mom. Visit the Zoo's website (virginiazoo.org) for LIVE cub viewing! The ‘Cub Cam' is a joint effort with the Virginia Zoo and the City of Norfolk .
A naming contest has also been launched, asking the public to submit name entries. Zoo staff will narrow down the entries and the public will then be allowed to vote for the winning names by donating $1 per vote. The money collected will be used for animal enrichment and conservation projects. Official rules and forms can be found on the Zoo's website and in the Membership Office.
The cubs, one female and one male, were born on Saturday, August 18 to Zola and Mramba, the Zoo's African lion pair. This is the first large carnivore birth at the Zoo in 35 years.
To see the lions and more than 350 other animals, visit the Zoo between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. , seven days a week. # # # |
