Events at the Virginia Zoo
As
an accredited Association of Zoos and Aquariums ( AZA ) facility,
the Virginia Zoo exhibits over 350 animals, beautifully manicured
grounds and offers a fun-filled day for all. For more than a century,
the Virginia Zoo has demonstrated a commitment to wildlife, conservation
and education. Below are upcoming education programs and activities
offered at the Zoo.
- Saturday, March
15, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Enrichment Extravaganza Day
Bring the kids to the Virginia Zoo's annual spring celebration
a day of education, fun and adventure. Learn about the animals,
birds and insects that lay eggs. Discover how zookeepers use enrichment
programs to keep animals fit, healthy and happy. Watch live demonstrations
with keepers; try out activities with Zoo educators and even play
like a lion with toys that will eventually be given to the Zoo animals.
Activities include a scavenger hunt, mascots and more. Program is
free with Zoo admission ($7/adults; $5 children 2-11; $6 seniors
(62 and older); members/free).
- Tuesday, March
18, 10:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m., Zoo Tales
Bring the kids to hear stories about animals. This week's featured
book is The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash by Trinka Hakes Nobel.
For children up to age 5, with an adult. Program is free with Zoo
admission ($7/adult, $5/children 2-11, $6/seniors 62 and up, free/members).

19, 10:30 a.m. 11:15 a.m. Cub Club
Parents and children ages 2 & 3 will explore the fascinating
world of animals through stories, songs and crafts. Registration
