Mission Statement: The Virginia Zoological Park seeks to increase understanding of the world's flora and fauna and to add to the growing body of knowledge about them; to display animals respectfully, in a natural way that encourages their natural behavior; to conserve animals and their habitats; and to offer opportunities for learning and enjoyment to the public. It will strive to fulfill this mission through education, conservation, research and recreation.

The mission of the Virginia Zoological Society is to ensure that the Virginia Zoological Park thrives as a superior zoological institution, reaching its fullest potential to serve people, animals and the environment.

Together, the core of our mission is to increase understanding of the world's flora and fauna by striving to reach our fullest potential to serve people, animals and the environment through education, conservation, research and recreation.

Adults: $7.00
Senior Citizens: $6.00
Children ages 2 - 11: $5.00
Children under 2: Free
Norfolk Schools and Disabled Groups are admitted free of charge

Attendance: 285,000 in FY2005

Directions: The Virginia Zoo is located at 3500 Granby Street, adjacent to Lafayette Park in Norfolk. Take I-264 West to downtown Norfolk. Take the City Hall Avenue exit and turn right onto St. Paul's Boulevard. Stay straight and merge left onto Granby Street. The Zoo's entrance is on the right.

Size: Located on 53 acres adjacent to Norfolk's Lafayette Park and is bordered by the Lafayette River.
