Party for the Planet
A celebration of Earth Day and Animal Enrichment
Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Learn about conservation steps you can take to protect natural habitats locally and around the world. See how our zookeepers use enrichment to encourage natural behaviors that will keep Zoo animals healthy and happy. Play like a monkey with the kinds of toys we give animals from meerkats to elephants. Event activities are included with general admission.
Zoo-Fari Golf Tournament
A charity golf tournament presented by the
Norfolk Sunrise Rotary Club Monday, May 14 at 11:30 a.m. Greenbrier Country Club,
1301 Volvo Pkwy, Chesapeake, Va.
Entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, practice range, golf cart, box lunch, beverages, awards dinner and more! $500 per foursome, $125 per player. 2nd Annual Sky Art Event
Saturday, May 19, 8:00 a.m. Help us create a unique piece of art – but leave the paints and crayons at home! Sky Art uses people on the ground wearing designated colors to form a "living image," which is photographed from above by a photographer on a crane. Support plant conversation, get an early-bird look at the Zoo and help us make our 2012 Sky Art picture! Registration is required. Registration information wil be posted here.
ZooParent Event
Saturday, May 19, 1:00 p.m. Did you adopt an animal this year? We (and your animals) want to thank you with an event all to yourselves.
Meet your animal's zookeeper, and get up-close and personal with some of our animal ambassadors, too. If you’ve not adopted your favorite animal yet, there’s still time! Purchase a Zoodoption at the $35 level or above before May 7 and you're in! The event is invitation only, so watch your mail for an invite postcard!

Military Appreciation Day
Check back for Fall 2012 date! A USO-sponsored event in appreciation of military service members hosted at the Virginia Zoo. Military members and their families are honored with free admission! This event is open to the public and free to military and dependents.
Zoo Boo
Approximately 6,000 people joined us for Virginia Zoo's annual Halloween event Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011. Join us next year for a wild and spooky good time filled with costume contests, haunted hayrides, a Train of Terror, animal pumpkin smashing, creepy candy stations and much more!
